Caroline Doyle has spent her life out West. Originally from Santa Fe, New Mexico, she attended college in Gunnison, Colorado, and has lived in many small mountain towns in between. Her love for recreating in the outdoors was sparked by a freshmen orientation trip backpacking through the Ansel Adams Wilderness. Over the past decade, she has worked in a variety of environments building her career as a professional guide. Idaho’s Salmon River has been her summertime home for the last seven years where she guides multi-day whitewater wilderness adventures and teaches Swiftwater education courses. In the winter, she teaches avalanche education courses and backcountry ski guides in Idaho and Colorado. Favorite things: sleeping under the stars, a good cup of coffee, cheetah print, dancing.
Mia Clyatt has spent her entire professional career in the outdoors, from guiding to firefighting to ski patrolling. She has guided in places as far-flung as Costa Rica and New Zealand and found that working outside was always a little more fun when women were around. She co-founded Babes Outside with the hope of bringing more badass women into the industry, whether as recreationists or someday-professionals. Mia has worked for OARS for seven years in Idaho and is so excited to bring this amazing Main Salmon trip to life. Favorite things: dirt biking, glitter, reading (especially fantasy), trying new things.

This adventure is designed for anyone who identifies as female and is ready to dive into the world of whitewater and wilderness. Whether you’re looking to sharpen your river skills, expand your comfort zone, or simply connect with an incredible group of women, this trip offers something special. We’ll journey down the breathtaking Main Salmon River—a river stretch that has it all: crystal-clear waters, exhilarating rapids, natural hot springs, golden sandy beaches, and scenic hikes, all framed by Idaho’s rugged Frank Church Wilderness. Guided by Caroline and Mia, who count this river among their favorites, you’ll gain hands-on experience in rowing, swimming rapids, and even practicing rescue techniques. Challenges are encouraged but always optional—this trip is about discovering your personal boundaries and celebrating what you’re capable of.
Beyond the river, you’ll have time to recharge and connect. Think restorative yoga sessions, delicious riverside meals, and shared moments of laughter around the chair circle. Explore trails that lead to stunning views, soak in hot springs, and savor the camaraderie of a supportive group of women.
